If you’ve looked for a dressing product for your plastics, rubber, or vinyl, it’s very likely that you’ve heard of someone mention Chemical Guys VRP. VRP stands for Vinyl + Rubber + Plastic. The main draw of this product is that it works well and it’s pretty cheap. It’s common to find detailers talk down Chemical Guys products, but if there’s one product that no one ever talks smack about, it’s the affordable but effective VRP.
One of the most common uses for VRP is on tires. It gives a nice shine, but is not greasy or too shiny. The consistency is a bit creamy, which absorbs in the tire quickly and therefore is less likely to sling off your tires.
VRP is really easy to apply to your tires with a tire gel applicator. The product leaves you with a tire that just simply looks clean. As you can see below, a quick wash of the wheels and tires and and application of VRP leaves you with a very nice looking result.
If you’re applying it to interior vinyl or plastic, I’ve found it easy to apply by using a microfiber towel to spread it across these surfaces. The towel conforms to various curves and crevices so you can apply it quickly and evenly. Simply apply it to your microfiber towel, smear it around on within the towel, and apply to the surface.
VRP leaves a nice matte shine– again, not too glossy and not so flat. It’s a great middleground where it offers some protection while maintaining a nice clean look when you’re all done.
VRP is a versatile product that you can use both inside and outside of your car. You don’t always have to use one specific product for one specific task. It’s great when you can use one product for a multitude of purposes so that you can reduce the amount of products you use. Simply put, Chemical Guys VRP is a cheap and effective protectant for your car’s vinyl, rubber, and plastic.
