People tend to use Mechanix gloves when they need more padding and protection over disposable gloves. But, when you’re working with fluids like motor oil or are in need of a more tactile feel, they just don’t work well. On the other hand, nitrile gloves are resistant to chemicals and allow you better feel when working with smaller car parts and hardware.

Over the many years working on cars, I’ve gone through a ton of disposable gloves. A popular one that is available on Amazon is the Curad Nitrile Exam Gloves. Currently, their gloves are advertised as “one size fits all”, however I’ve used the ones that have a specific size to them. I can’t speak to how the “one size fits all” fits, but the medium fit my hands perfectly.

When I bought these Curad Nitrile Gloves, it was a medium size and had 200 powder-free disposable gloves in one box. The thing I like about using nitrile gloves is that you get a lot of gloves, so whenever your hands get dirty and slippery, you can simply remove them and throw on a new pair.

With a new pair of gloves, you suddenly have clean hands again ready to continue working on your project. Even during the switchover from the old dirty gloves to the new, you don’t even need to touch any part of the dirtied gloves. This makes working with nitrile gloves totally mess-free.

The Curad Nitrile Gloves are pretty thin and probably because of that, very comfortable. When I’m deciding out of the disposable gloves I have to pick from, more often than not I grab these thinner ones because they feel so much more comfortable to use. And because they are so thin, they can usually fit a lot more gloves inside of one box for you to use.

Whenever I do regular oil changes on my vehicles at home, I usually pick these gloves as they are just more comfortable than the rest. They offer good resistance to motor oils and it makes my oil changes easy. When I’m all done with the oil change (or even during) and remove the gloves, my hands are totally clean.

The downside to these gloves being thing is that they tend to rip easily. These Curad branded disposable gloves seem more prone to puncture and rips than other thin disposable nitrile gloves.

For bigger jobs such as heavy cleaning of car parts where your hands will likely get doused in oil and other chemicals/fluids, you probably don’t want to be using these gloves. For most other jobs, these work great. Just beware of handling things that will poke the gloves, which will then cause the gloves to rip easily.
