TOZO NC9 Noise Cancelling Wireless Earbuds: Amazon

I’ve been wanting to write about these TOZO NC9 noise cancelling wireless earbuds for a while now, because they are a special set of earbuds to me. The reason is because I have never, ever been able to find a set of earphones or earbuds that would stay in my ears without falling out until I found the TOZO NC9’s.

It has been extremely frustrating for me for as long as I can remember, seeing people all around me using earphones or Apple Air Pods, but when I try to use them they just shimmy themselves out of my ears on their own and fall to the ground. I’ve tried all kinds of earbuds… different brands, types, shapes, etc. Nothing would stay in my ears without falling out, especially when I’m moving around. The only earphones that would actually sort of stay on my ears are the ones with a hook the hang over the ears, or headphones that go over my ears and sit on my head.

But when it comes to earphones or earbuds, nothing would stay in my ears. That’s until I tried the TOZO NC9 earbuds. They go in your ears tilted forward, and then you rotate them back to sit inside of your ear. After they are wedged into your ear, they stay put. I love these things because for the first time in over 15 years of trying all kinds of earphones/earbuds, I’ve found ones that actually stay in my ears.

The TOZO NC9’s are very affordable; you can find them for about $35 on Amazon. They come in a small charging case, and the battery life is pretty phenomenal. TOZO claims 13 hours of listening time on the earbuds, and 40 hours with the charging case. From my experience using these over the past several years, I would say that this estimate is accurate.

The charging case is charged itself with a supplied USB-C cord, but you’ll need to get your own charging brick. There are a bunch of differently sized earbud tips, so that you can use the one that best fits your ears. When you remove the earbuds from the case, they automatically turn on, and when you put them back into the case, they automatically turn off and disconnect from your device.

After 1-2 years of use unforunately, I have noticed the earbuds seem to develop some connectivity issues. Perhaps it is because I use them so much and am pretty rough on them as I use them for construction at home in addition to when I’m working on cars.

One issue I run into is that one earbud’s sound will flicker in and out from time-to-time. Another issue is when I put the earbuds into the case, they stay connected to my phone, which is an issue as it keeps running until the battery runs out. The only way I can truly disconnect them and stop them from running themselves out of battery is to disconnect bluetooth through my phone.

Again, these issues seem to come up after 1-2 years of heavy use, at which point I replaced them with the same exact model because I like them so much. Keep in mind that TOZO has a 1-year limited warranty, so definitely reach out to them if you’re having problems within a year of purchasing them.

The noise cancelling on the TOZO NC9’s work well. You can switch between active noise cancelling and transparent mode by tapping the left earbud. I don’t really like transparent mode because whenever you hear a noise, noise cancelling seems to activate temporarily to block that noise, and then it goes back into transparent mode. It’s an odd feature that I don’t particularly like.

The controls on the TOZO NC9 earbuds work great; you tap, double-tap, or hold your finger on the earbuds to turn noise cancelling on or off, pause or skip tracks, and control the volume. It’s a much better system than others that have actual buttons, which can be uncomfortable to press while the earbuds are in your ears.

When I’m working on my cars at home, I like to block out all the noise around me, as it helps me focus. Also, having the freedom to move around without any wires is really liberating. I had a big problem where I used to live where there was just so much noise outside and distraction from neighbors, so it wasn’t very enjoyable working on my cars outside. Using these noise cancelling wireless earbuds was a godsend and allowed me to work in peace without being bothered.

I also didn’t have a large enough garage to work in before, so I had to do all my work outside. I’d throw on a Sunday Afternoons hat and put the TOZO NC9’s in, and I would be completely insulated from everyone and everything around me. This gave me to ability to focus on working on my cars for hours on end without interruption.

And finally, music sounds great with the NC9’s. Obviously, you’re not going to get some bumping bass with these things simply because they are small earbuds that fit in your ears. If you’re looking for that kind of sound you’re better off getting some quality headphones. But these are more than adequate for listening to a variety of music and podcasts, audiobooks, etc.

On my most recent pair of TOZO NC9’s, they are starting to develop that flickering sound issue on occasion, so I’m ready to try another pair of earbuds. Since these have served me so well, I would happily continue using them, but I think it’s time for me to try something new for a change. But as I’ve said in this post already, I love these earbuds so much and I would not hesitate to get them again if I can’t find another pair that fits as well.
