It’s always nice when you can free up more work space in your garage. I outfitted my garage with a bunch of Husky Storage Cabinets in my garage along with some nice workbench tops to work on various projects. One of the staples in any garage are an abundant supply of shop towels. I always have plenty of shop towels stored away in my garage, with one roll out available for regular use. I’ve been keeping the roll just sitting atop my workbench top, but I wanted more workbench space.

Since my garage cabinets are all metal, I thought that the easiest and fastest way to get the roll of shop towels up and out of the way would be to get a magnetic shop towel holder. There are a ton of options available on Amazon, but I found one that I liked the look of best:

Datechip Magnetic Paper Towel Holder -12″ – Black

This shop towel holder I got is magnetic, but also has mounting holes in it in case you need to screw it into the wall or into wooden cabinets. The screws also include wall anchors in case you need them. It even comes with adhesive sheets to mount them by sticking them on as well.

But the easiest way to install them if you can, is to simply just put the shop towel holder on via its magnet. I found a good spot below the wall mounted cabinets and just stuck it up there.

And that’s it! If you need to mount it via the 4 mounting holes, then install them accordingly with the wall anchors or with the provided screws.

I like this specific magnetic shop towel holder because it looks nice and it has a little tip that keeps the shop towel roll in place. There are some others that don’t have this bit at the end, which I’d imagine would result in the roll falling off every once in a while. The magnet on base is also strong enough, so that it doesn’t move if I’m pulling the towels off the roll. I probably wouldn’t just yank off the towels as I’m sure doing that will knock the holder around.

This is a quick and easy installation that effectively gives me just a bit more room on my workbench top. The holder cost me less than $10 and it works great. I highly recommend getting one!
