Changing the oil and oil filter on your BMW E46 may be one of the most important maintenance items you can do on your car. This guide applies to all M52 and M54 engines, which can be found in the BMW 323i, 325i, 328i, and 330i coupes, sedans, wagons, and convertibles.
Changing the oil and oil filter is relatively simple on the 5th Generation Honda Odyssey (years 2018-2023). You do need to lift the car (I recommend driving up onto ramps) in order to access the oil drain plug and the oil filter. It is also slightly challenging filling the engine with oil without making a mess, unless you have a taller funnel or you come up with a more creative way to pour motor oil into the engine fill port.
My new 2020 Ford F-150 has been babied over the past year and a half having only driven about 2,000 miles on it so far. Many folks suggest changing out the oil at 1,500 miles if its a new vehicle as you may have more deposits and metal shavings in the oil from driving a new engine. Because I tend to agree with this concept, as well as the fact that it has already been over a year, I decided to change the oil and oil filter. Depending on your trim level you may have a different size information display, or as Ford calls it a productivity screen. The XL trim has a 2.3 in. productivity screen, the XLT trim has a 4 in. productivity screen, and Lariat and better has an 8 in. productivity screen. Changing the oil on a car can vary in difficulty depending on the vehicle you’re working on. Unfortunately on a 1st generation Toyota Tacoma with the 5VZ-FE (3.4L V6) engine, it is more on the difficult side mainly due to access issues with the oil filter. The draining and refilling of the oil on this vehicle is pretty straightforward, but the accessing, removing, and draining of the oil filter can be frustrating.
The 2nd gen Lexus IS350 has a multi-information display and a warning light (exclamation mark inside of an amber colored triangle) to inform the driver of various warning messages. With regards to the oil maintenance on the Lexus IS350, a couple messages may appear depending on whether the engine oil maintenance is required soon, or if the oil maintenance is required now.
The oil change on an Acura CL Type-S is straight forward. The car has a low clearance already, so a pair of car ramps and/or jack and jackstands will be needed to gain access from underneath. Besides that, the oil and oil filter replacement is pretty standard procedure. My 2nd Generation Acura CL Type-S (2001-2003 model years) takes 4.6 quarts of motor oil, specifying either a 5W-20 or a 5W-30 weight oil depending on the year of your car. Either weight motor oil will suffice with the 5W-20 improving cold engine starting and slightly better fuel economy. Whether you have a 2001 through 2003 model year, an Acura CL or an Acura CL Type-S (2nd gen), or an automatic or a manual, there is an oil capacity of 4.6 quarts.
According to the owner’s manual, my 2006 Lexus IS350 with the 2GR-FSE 3.0L V6 engine uses a 5W-30 viscosity oil, but 10W-30 can be used as well if the former is not available. You should replace your engine oil depending on what type of motor oil you go with. When changing the oil and oil filter, you will need 6.6 quarts of oil to perform an oil change.
