When it’s time to change the cabin air filter in your 5th Generation Honda Odyssey (years 2018-2024), the Maintenance Minder will alert you with a maintenance sub code of 2. In my case, I had a B12 show up on my instrument cluster, which means that I’m due for an oil change and inspection (B), along with an engine air filter (1) and cabin air filter replacement. Probably the easiest job you can do on your 5th generation Honda Odyssey is changing out your engine air filter. To change out the air cleaner element, you’ll need access to the engine bay where you’ll undo a few clips on the air filter housing. I was able to replace my air cleaner element in less than 5 minutes, so it is definitely a job that you should do by yourself rather than paying someone to do it for you.

As a preventative measure, E46 owners should attempt to replace certain parts on their cars on a regular basis. The typical service interval that is suggested a cooling overhaul falls in the every 75,000-90,000-range. If you have the ability to spend money on parts, you can save money on labor by doing this work yourself. On this article, I will be addressing the replacement of major components on the cooling system on the BMW E46. This guide should apply to most E46 vehicles: the 323i, 325i, 328i, and 330i models.

The BMW E46 has its fair share of commonly found issues; it’s even more typical given that these cars are at least two decades old now. An extremely common issue that I will be addressing in this post is the sunroof shade getting stuck inside of the roof. This guide will go through the removal of the sunroof glass and fixing the sunroof shade so that it opens and closes properly again.

Here’s another one of those common oil leak points on the BMW E46. Up there with the valve cover gasket as one of the most common sources of oil leaks on the E46, the oil filter housing gasket is yet another weak point. What’s crazy is that, the oil filter housing gasket itself costs less than $5, but the overall job usually costs much more due to the labor it takes to remove all of the other components needed to get to the gasket.

As with any car, you can get rocks and debris that gets kicked up and hitting the front of your vehicle. This can result in paint chips on your front bumper and hood. It can also cause cracks and breaks in your headlight, turn signal, and fog light lenses. When I purchased my BMW E46, it already had a broken corner light lens. Replacing the corner light is actually quite easy, although if you don’t know how to remove the corner lens, it may be frustrating to deal with.

An ongoing issue that can be found on the more recent models of the Honda Odyssey, Honda Passport, and Honda Pilot is a problem where the audio system prematurely malfunctions. These problems will surface only after a few years after purchasing the vehicle new. In fact, there are owners who have experienced this issue immediately right after purchasing their brand new vehicle. With the audio system issues, you might hear no sound or intermittent, popping, and/or crackling noises coming from the speakers. You may also have problems with the infotainment screen going blank or displaying a warning message.

One of the easiest things you can do to spruce up the look of your E46 is to replace the emblems. Replacing the entire E46 emblem is very easy to do and it makes a huge improvement to the look of your car. To replace them, you simply need to pry them off and install the new ones. In addition to the new emblems, you might also need new rubber grommets as each emblem has two pins on the back of them, which will pop into the rubber grommets that fit in the holes of the car.

If you’re familiar with the BMW E46, you may already know that they are notorious for leaking oil. As of the time of this post, E46’s on the road are 15+ years old, so most of them will experience oil leaks to some degree. The most common oil leaks on the E46 are at the oil filter housing gasket, the oil pan gasket, and the valve cover gasket.
