It’s hard to believe that I’ve had my 2020 Ford F-150 for five years and I still haven’t gotten the windows tinted. After moving to Southern California, I knew I would definitely need the windows tinted to block out the UV rays and to keep the heat out as well. Adding the window tint will also be able to balance out the odd look of the front windows being clear white the rear ones are darker from the colored glass.
Ever since we got our Honda Odyssey, I’ve been wanting to get the windows tinted. There are two main reasons why I wanted to get the windows tinted: one, to have UV protection to reduce UV exposure from the sun, and two, match the front side windows to the rest of the car so there isn’t such a harsh transition in window tint between the front and side windows.
On my old 1993 Mazda MX-6, I inherited a terrible tint job that was done on the rear and side windows. The tint on the windows had a purple tint to it and it was beginning to bubble all around the borders. This type of failure is characteristic of a poorly done tint job or regular exposure to glass cleaner that has ammonia. I could not stand the look of it any longer, so I went about removing the tint.
